We are very grateful for the help extended to us by individuals, groups and organizations, who over the past two years have contributed to Shandong University’s Judaica Library Project by either posting or delivering by hand individual books and/or boxes on their visits to China. We are very grateful to them and hope that, once the collection grows into a reasonable size library, we will dedicate shelves, rooms, collections to them in recognition of their efforts on our behalf.
We would like to thank the following:
Special Friends
- Mr Nathan Irwin Snyder son of Joseph Snyder and Ada Etta Budner of Boston, MA. Education. BA, Boston University (Boston, MA), 1966. B.J. Ed., Hebrew College (Brookline, MA), 1966. MA, Yeshiva University, Bernard Revel Graduate School (New York, N.Y.), 1968. M.S., Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA). As the Judaica librarian at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas, he initiated a book exchange program with us, where our Centre sends the University of Texas Library, the Chinese language books they require for their collection and he sends us Judaica doubles from their collection. This exchange has been mutually beneficial and represents a clever and constructive partnership. In addition Mr Snyder has been gracious in advising us on new contacts and sources for finding more books around the U.S.
- Rabbi Marvin Tokayer, the former Chief Rabbi of Japan and active in Chinese – Jewish affairs has been gracious to organize many boxes filled with books donated by people in his own Long Island Community and from people who he guides on tours of China. Rabbi Tokayer himself carried a full 22 volumes of the encyclopedia Judaica in his luggage for our collection. We are very grateful to him!
